Tree care - easy steps for a happy tree

Locate

When you have decided where to put your tree please try and avoid placing it near radiators, heaters or fireplaces and if you have under floor heating we can provide an insulated base to raise the pot off the floor.

Aim for a flat surface and allow your tree some room to breathe.  The dimensions we provide are from the base of the pot to the treetop so don’t forget to allow room for your fairy.

No hair cuts please, this can damage and infect your tree.

Ho Ho H2O

We all like a drink at Christmas and so will your tree.  We don’t water trees on delivery day so once in position please give it a welcome tipple.

Rooted’s environmentally friendly pots are specially designed with a water reservoir to help ensure the roots are not water logged but there is room for water storage making it easy to keep your tree happy.

Like all living things, your tree needs a regular drink, we advise a little everyday so the soil stays moist.

Spruce up

Go to town on the decorations and lights.

Please don’t use spray fake snow, tinsel or glitter as the chemicals are bad for the tree.  Other than that go for it. Spruce up with decs and lights, then sing, dance, take a picture and share with us on Instagram;

@rooted_livingchistmastrees - we love to see our trees all dolled up.

Why not experience the taste of Christmas as you get festive with your decorations and try our exclusive pine truffles?

Cheerio

As you prepare to say goodbye, please remove all your decorations and lights and pop your tree back in the hessian wrapping by lifting the branches upwards and tying the string at the top and attaching your label.

We will arrange a pick up date, but feel free to put your tree outside, or in a garage or shed to help it acclimatise before going back into the wild.

And don’t be too sad, with Rooted you should be able to see your tree again next year. We assess your tree and if all is healthy we return your deposit immediately.

The above Christmas tree care instructions form part of our

water

Living trees need water.

All we ask is that you water the tree to ensure it stays living and forever green.

Our sleek recycled eco pots make it so easy to keep the tree well watered. The inbuilt water reservoir ensures the tree roots are not water logged but can access the water when needed.

rewild

Rooted’s aim is to reuse, recycle, reduce.

By hiring a local tree we reduce the amount of cut trees ending in landfill, each with an average carbon footprint of 16kg - the equivalent of x3 return flights to Australia.

When our trees out grow homes we plant the trees in the Calder Valley to reduce run off and flooding and allow them to continue to absorb carbon.

“By hiring a tree and letting it live on, we can reduce waste and support the Calder Valley’s flood management schemes and improve our air quality.  I think rooted is a kind business idea for our community that represents all that is great about living in the Calder Valley. As a flood warden and after witnessing the devastation floods in our area causes I hope people will switch to hiring a tree rather than buying a cut tree this year so we can build a better, cleaner and greener community for our children’s future.”

Cllr Scott Patient, lead member for Climate Change & Resilience at Calderdale Council.

No waste.

16,000 tonnes of cut Christmas trees end up in landfill each year in the UK
